The worldwide Covid-19 problem is unknown when it will end. I guess, everything depends on the approval of the vaccine for public use. And I can assure you, as soon as the vaccine is available, immediately all the borders of any country will be fully opened conditionally i.e. with SOPs. It doesn’t matter what the SOP is as long as we can travel abroad. Many countries are already under the pressure of Covid-19 vs economics. The pressure is likened to a dilemma at a crossroads where there are tigers in the right lane and crocodiles in the left lane.
With the MCO (Movement Control Order) in our state of Kuala Lumpur which started in October and is still running because it will continue until December, we are tired and bored. So, I started writing “Series 1” as writing during the MCO and in the era of #BorderClose.
Do you know why this blog repeats many stories in Thailand and Laos? And why do I complain of boredom? This is our story…
In January 2017, my family and I finished traveling to Thailand and Laos overland. Those two countries were the last countries we visited. In the same year, we were busy launching new businesses. Throughout the year until entering 2018. Coincidentally, my wife is pregnant and we are not able to go anywhere.
In September 2018, my wife gave birth to our 2nd child. If followed by my crazy and stubborn head, we can simply travel with our baby when he is 4 months old. But because I understand the workflow of how the vaccine system is produced in the body, so I canceled the desire to travel anywhere throughout 2018. After all, I am pro-vaccine and not anti-vaccine or anti-vaccine hiding behind pro-vaccine! There is no need to discuss conspiracy theory with me because I am the owner of Malaysia’s first forum discussing 100% conspiracy theory from 2005 to 2009. And now, I’m fed up with all the nonsense conspiracies.
Entering 2019, our baby is not yet a year old. So, once again we cancel the desire to travel and focus on the business we are doing. As soon the world entered early January 2020, all of a sudden my Twitter feed was buzzing about the “mystery virus” case in China based in Wuhan. If you used to follow and observe the H1N1 influenza outbreak that happened in 2003, there must be a little fear in your heart.
With all the videos of people suddenly fainting, dying or having seizures on the side of the road, apartment and condo doors being soldered and sealed tightly by the police, the public was sighing at the end of the bridge because they could not cross the city or state border, the public had to be dragged and handcuffs with chains and more. Entering the 2nd week of January, there was a few incoming Twitter feed about the virus that had spread to Singapore. OMG! I had put on a mask for my son who had just entered 1st grade even though the other students and parents looked weird at us. And as far as I remember, the end of January was the first time Covid-19 spread to Johor Bahru, more precisely at the hospital.
It has already begun! And MCO1 begins on March 18, 2020. It will be history!
And so began my plan which was canceled and had to be ignored.
In December last year, I really wanted to travel throughout the year 2020. I’ve already created a planner in Google Calendar. Maybe readers can check out my blog post here and here. Supposedly, even if my son started school in 1st grade, we could still go to any country for travel. However, God’s plan is higher.
So, the number of years that my family and I have not been able to travel abroad is 3 years! Let’s be bored together at home, hehe. Not like my friends who traveled in the last 1, 2 and 3 months ago or at the end of last year. They certainly don’t feel very much like us, do they? Should we be able to moan in grief now… ??
Maybe some friends will suggest that we just go on holiday locally. Sorry guys. If you are familiar with the term carpacker, we are full-time hardcore carpackers from 2013 until now. Only in this blog post did I have time to share the travelogue, even though we have visited many regions and districts. Just state the names of the places, surely our family has arrived. Only Perlis, east Johor, Sabah and Sarawak have not been visited. Maybe in the future, we will trans-Sabah if there is sustenance. Wow TRANS SABAH ?? InsyaAllah. Hopefully, the Covid-19 case in Sabah will decrease and be under control.
